What is the opportunity?
The Senior Director, Business Risk Management, Personal Financing Products acts as the key risk leader for the Personal Lending, Home Equity Financing and Retail Auto Financing Lines of Business (LoB) and is responsible for building and maintaining a high level of capability relative to risk identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring across the Lines of Business.
What will you do?
Present key Risk updates to the LoB SMT, which may include new or emerging risks, key risk process changes, the Annual Risk Assessment portion of the Business Portfolio Review, key risk strategies (including policy and initiatives led by 2LOD) or external events.
Spearhead the annual risk appetite assessment process for the LoB, working with LoB strategy and product representatives, ensuring that risk appetite constraints are supported by appropriate rationale factoring business growth objectives, external environment, industry practice and aligned to Canadian Banking metrics where required.
On an ongoing basis ensure that program and initiative owners appropriately assess impact on risk appetite, including facilitating discussions and identifying the need for modeling and other testing where required.
Document and maintain a LoB controls inventory based on RBC policies, data integrity, OSFI reviews and Internal Audit findings.
Monitor risk culture, capabilities and practices within PFP, identifies areas for skill development and where required implements training, knowledge building and best practice sharing to build capability.
Review Enterprise Policies and assess impact on LOB. Responsible to ensure any impacts of policies changes are effectively communicated and appropriate action taken.
Responsible for ensuring the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of PFP Regulatory Filings as well as oversight on reports and analytics required by the business to manage operational and regulatory matters.
Provide guidance and coaching on to participants in the RTA process.
Responsible for active participation with Business Risk Monitoring & Solutions.
What do you need to succeed?
Must have:
Graduate degree in business or related discipline and/or MBA, CA, or other professional related qualification
Minimum 10-15 years' experience in financial services sector with 3-5 years experience in leadership
Proven business acumen and credibility with solid written communication skills
Strong influencing, collaboration, relationship building and communication skills
Strategic mindset, with significant knowledge and understanding of RBC businesses and organization
Proven change management capabilities
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, inquisitive nature and comfort challenging current practices
A commitment to streamlined and effective processes for maximum business efficiency while assuring appropriate governance
Working knowledge of banking operations and the financial services regulatory landscape including experience in working with regulators
Nice to have:
Several years experience in Risk Management, Compliance, Law or Internal Audit.
