Senior Director, HR Governance and Operations - SLC Management

What is in it for you:

This newly created role will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring HR risk & governance frameworks, managing programs and projects and leading HR operational activities across the SLC Management's group of global asset managers. Reporting to the Managing Director, Talent and Strategic Initiatives, the Senior Director will partner with HR Business Partners, Total Rewards, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Finance and other stakeholders to ensure connectivity and alignment with SLC Management's business strategy and the broader risk and compliance frameworks within SLC Management and Sun Life.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for building robust governance frameworks, delivering large scale programs and initiatives and driving operational excellence within a complex matrixed organization. Exceptional communication, relationship building and influencing skills will be critical to success along side a holistic understanding of Human Resource functions.

What you will do:

HR Governance:

  • Assess enterprise risk management and compliance strategies, programs, and processes and identify applicability, customized requirements and approach within SLC Management. Work with stakeholders to proactively identify gaps or conflicts in existing processes and partner to develop solutions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HR governance frameworks, operating guidelines; processes and policies within SLC Management; Establish and document clear roles and responsibilities including decision making accountabilities for all stakeholders.
  • Maintain an inventory of all SLC owned HR policies and procedures, ensuring contents remain up-to-date and accurate, and are reviewed and approved as required.
  • Build collaborative working relationships across the platform and act as a Subject Matter Expert for HR governance, operating guidelines and policies. Provide training and guidance to HR teams on best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with SLC and Sun Life's Risk and Compliance, Legal and HR Governance functions to understand the legal, legislation and regulatory landscape, ensuring HR compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices across the platform.

Program/Project Management/Operations:

  • Manage a holistic view of all work and priorities across the platform. Areas of focus may include ongoing governance; put/calls for partner companies, future acquisitions, HR Data & Systems, HR Strategy or talent/employee life cycle activities.
  • Develop project timelines and key activities, prepare for working sessions, document outcomes, create leadership presentations and monitor and follow through on actions. Communicate project progress and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Develop program deliverables; coordinating resources/stakeholders and managing inter-dependencies to ensure completion.
  • Deliver operational excellence through innovation and improvement (process, systems, tools, routines etc) across the HR teams. Lead cross functional HR projects or operational events /initiatives.
  • Guide/Support HR teams on Enterprise or SLC HR audit processes to ensure adherence to policies and procedures across the platform; Collaborate with other HR leaders to align operations and governance with broader organizational goals.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field;
  • 10+ years of progressive experience,
  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing HR governance frameworks and policies; Ability to develop strong processes and frameworks to ensure that we have the right governance in place and are meeting our business and legislative requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize programs, processes, and policies to identify gaps in alignment with business goals and consult with and advise on ways to close these gaps.
  • Proven project/program management experience in leading large-scale complex HR projects and change initiatives; ability to manage multiple workstreams / projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management and influencing skills with the ability to effectively and constructively engage stakeholders to meet deadline and drive appropriate business outcomes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in the financial services or asset management industry is highly desirable

For US applicants the base salary range is: $145k - $217.5k.

SLC Management is a regulated business, and this means that there are certain financial reporting and trading preclearance requirements for all employees. Salary Range

105,000/105 000 - 180,000/180 000

The Base Pay range is for the primary location of the job. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
