What You Will Do

You will play a key role in planning, coordination and implementation of the ITS Department's IT Governance and Quality Management program; ensuring the overall integrity and coherence of the program and its effectiveness in support of business goals; and performing quality program and customer/business satisfaction audits. This position requires a passion for technology, process automation and IT Risk Governance to ensure ITS delivers measurable value and services that meet or exceed performance goals.


You will champion IT good practices, ensuring that standards/policies are measurable and consistently followed within the department. The position contributes to the development of strategies and processes related to IT Governance, IT Risk Management and IT Performance/Value Management while leading or supporting IT Compliance initiatives and activities. The position is also responsible for conducting or coordinating special investigations and audits, and assisting internal and external auditors with ITS-related audits.


You will be responsible for IT Governance by participating in cross-functional IT Governance activities, setting objectives, deliverables, and milestones; assisting with IT policy and standard management; monitoring, measuring and reporting key IT governance performance indicators; and coordinating governance activities with other TTC groups.


You will look after Quality Management by contributing to the development, implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Quality Management program for all quality-critical processes within ITS; assisting in creating policies and procedures to support the Quality Management program and improve processes across ITS functions; participating in the development of technical standards with relevant sections of ITS and aiding in designing key processes and integrating IT processes.


You will analyze issues, conduct risk assessments, and develop detailed review plans with defined objectives, scope, and timelines and conduct quality system audits, follow up on corrective actions, and ensure system effectiveness and compliance.


You will assist in formulating Quality Management objectives, establishing audit priorities, and creating work plans and budgets and support the development of departmental policies, audit methodologies, and techniques.


In addition to the above, you wll be responsible for treating passengers and/or employees with respect and dignity and ensuring the needs of passengers or employees with disabilities are accommodated and/or addressed (within their area of responsibility) in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders so that they can fully benefit from the TTC as a service provider and an employer.

What Qualifications You Bring

  • Completion of post-secondary education in MS/MBA/BS/BE in MIS, Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or the equivalent, combined with several years of directly related experience working in an IT or IT audit environment.
  • Training in Canadian Quality criteria for the Public Sector is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge of IT audit principles, along with knowledge in all aspects of IT practices and standards, business and project management principles and methods involved with quality management principles, methodologies and practices.
  • Sound knowledge of investigation techniques, data extraction and analysis tools, as well as current trends in auditing, IT Governance, risk assessment and control theory, and information technology (IT).
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and maintaining Quality Management program (IEEE, NQI, ISO, CMM, etc.), developing standards and processes, establishing, maintaining and analyzing IT Performance Measurement.
  • Knowledgeable of IT Governance, COBIT, ITIL Process Methodology, Project Quality Management, code review, Software Development Life Cycle, Requirements Review and Development, and Software Testing.
  • Highly developed analytical, problem solving, organizational and report writing skills.
  • Leadership capacity, strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, and excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Must have a recognized professional auditing or information systems certification i.e., PMP, CGEIT, CRISC, CISA, CISM, and/or CISSP or equivalent.
  • Must have or rapidly acquire a comprehensive knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and Related Orders including disability accommodation and accessibility requirements pertaining to passengers.
  • Seasoned experience in the field of IT auditing, systems development & implementation, contract administration or project management, with exposure to various types of management control systems and multi-disciplinary settings is an asset.
