The Senior Manager, Expense Management is a key part of the International Banking (IB) Finance team. They will be accountable for the oversight of a specific portfolio of IB Head Office expenses with responsibilities including in-depth analysis, reporting, and forecasting. The Senior Manager ensures integrity of financial reporting across the main bank's processes and contributes to deliver value added analysis and insights to internal clients.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Financial Reporting:

      • Support the delivery of monthly and quarterly financial reporting for their portfolio of IB expenses.
      • Perform variance and reasonability analysis to ensure the integrity of the monthly and quarterly results and the timely completion of the quarter-end reporting package (Bluebook and variance reports to Executives).
      • Monitor results against appropriate performance measurement criteria and key metrics.
      • Review and approve the analysis and backup for journal entries during month-end.

Expense Management & Analysis:

      • Act as SME for a portfolio of Head Office expenses, obtaining deep understanding into results, forecasts, and key business drivers.
      • Conduct in-depth analysis and provide meaningful insights into various types of expenses and as well as recommendations, where required, to ensure expenses are well controlled and within plan.
      • Seek expense reduction opportunities in IB Head Office and across IB countries to maintain cost efficiencies, where appropriate.
      • Innovate new expense management tools and processes to provide more value-add insights to business partners and Senior Management
      • Plan, oversee, and execute special projects as required by Executive Management on a wide range of topics.

Forecasting and Planning:

      • Lead and ensure the integrity and timely completion of the monthly/quarterly forecasting and annual profit planning for the portfolio of IB expenses under their responsibility.
      • Have an in-depth understanding of forecasting/planning methodologies of the Bank and provide support to other Finance teams and Executives in preparing and analyzing forecasts.
      • Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the system to better meet corporate, regional, and business line requirements.

Country Support:

      • Provide support to regional and country Finance teams and Executives by providing financial analysis and commentary on Head Office expenses or proposals, as requested.
      • Act as a liaison between other Finance/Accounting groups and country Finance partners; assisting with business needs, including accounting guidance and financial reporting.

Staff Management:

      • Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to direct report(s).

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • University undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, or related field.
  • MBA and/or professional designation (CPA or CFA) preferred.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience in a Planning and Analysis function.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Data-driven problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Negotiation, organization, and managerial abilities to direct varied activities, alleviate conflicts as they arise, and liaise with senior management.
  • Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities is essential.
  • Proficiency with Excel and advanced skills in other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Bilingual English-Spanish is a strong asset.
  • Experience with Hyperion and Smart View is a strong asset.
  • Experience with Oracle EGL, PeopleSoft, and OBI is an asset.
  • Project management experience is an asset.
