The Role

Supports Model Risk Governance in Canada ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. The Senior Manager, Model Risk Governance will provide strategic, analytic and project management support in the execution of the SAS MRM tool in collaboration with GRM project team ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The incumbent is also responsible for the oversight and management of the strategic projects and alignment with the other stakeholders to ensure help validate functionality vis a vis requirement, increase efficiency, improve utilization and decrease cost and risks associated during pre & post implementation of the solution and own the change management process post the stabilization period. This role may also require the incumbent to act as a product owner who will be responsible for identifying capabilities, features, and potential risks for the product's vision by working with end users, stakeholders, and business Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure the systems performance is at an optimal level.

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Lead and manage in partnership with Model Risk Management teams and project teams the configuration of business requirements/changes, assess risks/impacts thereof, and recommend solution in agreement with SME, Vendor and technology teams to support product implementation
  • Understand and articulate the product's vision, including its objectives, value proposition, and key risks associated with opportunities/idea
  • Develop and own the change management operational model and process for SAS MRM
  • Develop and own the vendor management and governance model for SAS MRM and ensure all risks are documented and escalated to management
  • Plan/execute periodic reviews in line with standardization and optimization of the model risk governance tool. Be an advocate of best practice by virtue of learning and exposure.
  • Develop a governance framework inclusive of service level agreements both with technology and vendors in relation to change management & contractual / non-contractual obligations across stakeholders.
  • Develop governance procedures necessary to maintain and manage tool (from Admin perspective).
  • Develop user training manual for all roles and responsibilities across the model lifecycle. (e.g.., user guides, live training sessions/walk-throughs)
  • Lead, with Model Risk Governance team, the socialization of the new tool across model lifecycle, impacting all model stakeholders.
  • Does periodic health check & diagnosis of the solution and contribute to discussions on solutions and execute assigned priorities with consideration and awareness of potential impact on other initiatives.
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics or other relevant field
  • Excellent MS office skills, particularly in Office, Excel, Access & Visio. Knowledge in share point, process automation and documentation considered an asset.
  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in project management, product development, change management & vendor management preferably in the banking or financial industry
  • Prior experience in leading SAS projects will be an asset
  • SAS programming knowledge is a nice to have
  • Prior experience in system operational support and handling system change requests, governance and controls
  • Experience working in Agile environment considered an asset
  • Proficiency in English (Both Oral and Written) & demonstrated cross-cultural relationship management and experience
  • Flexible and open, able to work in a highly collaborative and continually challenging business environment.
  • The ideal candidate must be capable of demonstrating critical thinking skills and creative problem solving.
