Leads and oversees Financial Planning and Analysis for Technology team ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Supervise a direct report, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities to ensure their growth and success.
  • Act as finance business partner for Technology team to provide strategic analysis, financial modelling allowing technology stakeholders make informed investment and prioritization decision.
  • Act as first line of defense for Technology team teams to address questions related to financial transparency, allocations to Business Lines, accounting principles and financial controls.
  • Support annual planning, monthly forecasting activity including variance analysis.
  • Support and track cost saving initiatives with clear articulation of technology and business risk resulting from prioritization decisions.
  • Support monthly headcount report and analysis on the data for monthly / quarterly reporting (tracking of new hires, attrition, vacancies, conversions etc.)
  • Lead financial transparency initiative that includes but not limited to run rate spend analysis, YOY analytics relative to baseline technology (KTLO) versus business line incremental spend.
  • Instill financial governance through implementing best practices, making recommendations, and communicating applicable financial policies and accounting guidelines to relevant parties.
  • Engage with partners across both Finance, Business Line, and Technology divisions from all levels
  • Provide management reporting, planning, and forecasting of operating spend
  • Demands at month-end/quarter-end are high in terms of financial reporting requirements; must balance workloads and produce high quality output efficiently to meet tight deadlines
  • There is a constant need to reassess the nature and content of management reporting and initiate changes to produce increasingly value-added, insightful analysis and reporting, while balancing the pressing demands to meet current reporting deadlines, prioritize executive requests and deal with day-to-day issues.


Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience within a large organization preferably in the banking industry
  • Accounting designation (CPA/CMA/CGA) preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (oral and written) with ability to articulate financial information with senior stakeholders in Technology and finance.
  • Thorough understanding of IFRS standards as it relates to capitalization of intangibles (software development etc).
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of financial and management reporting principles as applied to banking issues, thorough understanding of the business planning process, dealing with accounting systems, budgets and internal controls
