Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As a member of Head Office Finance team, you will provide governance over the accounting and reporting for Share based compensations plans, ensuring appropriate controls and processes are in place. This role also ensures compliance with various external reporting requirements related to the reporting of share based compensation plans in RBC Annual Reports/Proxy and other related disclosures.

What will you do?

  • Lead enterprise financial reporting, forecasting, and actionable analysis for Share Based Compensation (SBC) plans and Capital Market variable compensation plans (CMVC), including preparation of financial statements notes and tax schedules on SBC plans for RBC and its subsidiaries.
  • Provide leadership over the allocation of SBC & CMVC costs and related hedging activities across RBC; reconciliation of all related accounts and PEGA attestation.
  • Responsible for management of up to five team members, provide guidance and advice to the team, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide advice and support to Corporate Treasury on SBC & CMVC accounting and related hedging activities.
  • Keep abreast of evolving accounting standards to ensure reporting requirements are followed.
  • Coordinate with RBC's Human Resources Group and business units worldwide for accounting and reporting of SBC & CMVC plans.
  • Provide governance over accounting and reporting of all plans, ensure proper accounting entries are recorded for plans activities and hedging of various plans.
  • Lead the development of tailored financial models to provide actionable financial analysis and sound advice and counsel to Finance and BU partners.
  • Research best practices and proactively simplify and automate existing processes to improve efficiency and accuracy in processes and reports.
  • Provide leadership over ad hoc projects as they arise.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors on audit matters / issues relating to accounting and reporting of SBC & CMVC plans.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • CPA designation, along with 5+ years relevant experience
  • Strong knowledge and experiences with PeopleSoft, Pega and Shareworks
  • Solid knowledge of IFRS 2 accounting and disclosure requirements
  • Superb skill with Excel, advanced skill with Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with SBC financial models and database
  • Strong initiatives and creative thinking, and ability to work with tight deadline and extended hours
  • Large public company experience
  • Ability to work independently and manage numerous priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • People management up to five direct reports, and ability to work effectively with RBC's Finance and HR partners
