We are seeking a driven Senior Manager of Software Development to lead our Product Onboarding engineering team within the Commerce Engineering organization. This role is pivotal in developing and modernizing technology that supports product ordering for retail and small business customers, directly contributing to the bank's sales and revenue growth.

  • Lead and inspire an engineering team to execute strategic multi-year initiatives for sales and revenue growth in retail and small business sectors.
  • Drive innovation and spearhead opportunities to elevate technology and processes, ensuring superior omni-channel product ordering experiences.
  • Own the technical design and ensure the implementation of high-quality, scalable technology solutions.
  • Supervise the support of crucial revenue-generating applications, enhancing service levels and nurturing strong partnerships with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Guide a team of skilled technical professionals by setting clear performance standards, tracking progress, and offering mentorship, including the recruitment and cultivation of top talent.
  • Maintain robust relationships with business and technology leaders, demonstrating exceptional communication skills to influence audiences at all levels.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and exceptional capability in agile planning and prioritization to ensure efficient project execution and alignment with strategic imperatives of the bank.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Over 5 years of relevant software development experience, including a minimum of 3 years leading and building high-performing engineering teams.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in developing and supporting mission-critical, internet-scale, client-facing web applications as the application owner or subject matter expert
  • At least 3 years of hands-on expertise with NodeJS, React, the MERN stack, and MongoDB.
  • Proven 3+ years of experience in building microservices and deploying applications using DevOps pipelines on Google Cloud Platform (GKE)
  • Strong practical knowledge of agile delivery with a deep understanding of core agile concepts and practices
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with strong strategic storytelling and presentation capabilities
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; advanced degrees are a plus.
  • Work experience in highly regulated industries within Canada is a strong asset, but not a requirement.
