As a Senior Principal Cloud Engineer at Scotiabank, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud solutions to ensure the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud-based systems. This position requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives. Your expertise in cloud technologies and leadership abilities will be essential in transforming the banking experience for our customers.


Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Cloud Architecture Design: Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud architectures.

  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute cloud strategies that align with business goals and objectives.

  • Security and Compliance: Ensure all cloud solutions comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud systems to ensure high availability and reliability.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Security, API, Events, and Application Development, to deliver integrated solutions.

  • Innovation: Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to drive continuous improvement.

  • Process Automation: Drive process automation initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Experience: A minimum of 12 years of experience in cloud engineering, with a focus on platform engineering for large organizations.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in cloud platforms such as Azure, or Google Cloud, with preference to Google Cloud.

  • Strong understanding of infrastructure as code (IaC) and containerization.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a cloud environment.

  • Familiarity with serverless architectures and microservices.

  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Leadership Abilities: Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Ability to inspire and motivate teams.

  • Strategic thinking and vision.

  • Results-oriented mindset.

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Certifications: Relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, GCP Architect), are desirable.
