Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC's Technology and Operations division. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. Finance IT is a global technology delivery function within GFT. Finance IT has a headcount of over 900 staff globally and is responsible for over 100 production applications, supporting RBCs CFO group.

This role is to provide technology leadership to the Corporate Treasury IT (CT IT) team which supports the RBC's Corporate Treasury (CT) group within the CFO organization. You will be leading a technology delivery organization and will be accountable for providing solutions and strategic direction supporting the CT group.

What will you potentially do?

Leadership and Strategy

  • Partner with the stakeholders to understand their business strategy and define a vision which aligns with the strategy.
  • Work with senior business/technology executives to ensure that the deliverables achieve the business result that enables value creation.
  • Accountable to deliver all the priorities assigned to the team.
  • Seek industry trends and organizational knowledge to understand alternative approaches and/or solutions.
  • Provide technology thought-leadership to ensure CT IT and Finance IT is ahead of the curve and can meet the growing business and regulatory demands.
  • Ability to thrive in a fluid and dynamic environment while handling multiple concurrent activities supported by excellent organizational skills.
  • Promotes collaboration and partnering working with other functional teams across the organization.
  • Leverage the value in unit, department, and enterprise-wide teams to develop better solutions and achieve a cross enterprise mindset.

Program Delivery and Operational Excellence

  • Accountable to plans and manage program deliverables including managing program scope, requirements change, multiple and competing demands and priorities.
  • Providing guidance on resource, scope, risk, issue, dependency, communication, and stakeholder management; Setting project management standards across all IT groups
  • Resolving complex issues and conflicts (including architectural direction vs. project constraints); escalates to executive level where required).
  • Working with Lead Architect and other key stakeholders to ensure adherence to Enterprise Architecture Governance model.
  • Accountable to manage the financials with strong governance and reporting and communicate any in a timely manner.

Talent Management

  • Sets direction and vision for team members and defines the team's deliverables and key performance indicators/metrics.
  • Fosters high achievement environments where diversity is valued, and people are treated with respect and dignity.
  • Provide focus and clarity in establishing individual goals, driving performance enablement, supporting career development, and rewarding strong performance.
  • Creates an atmosphere for high-performing teams and manages performance, rewards, and recognition.
  • Coaches staff to ensure the skills, processes and knowledge are in place for people.
  • Assess current state capabilities and aligning them to future transformational roles and development plans.
  • Establishes succession plan for key positions, including own role.
  • Ensure that employees understand RBC vision, as well as support and reinforce targeted behaviors that contribute to RBC goals.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience with a proven track record of leading a large technology team supporting complex business and regulatory priorities
  • Strong experience in leading regulatory initiatives and understanding of Banking and Capital Markets products and data.
  • Strong experience developing architectures on large data projects and proven results with an extensive program from initiation to implementation.
  • Knowledge of architecture aspects, including business architecture, data architecture and cyber security architecture.
  • Prior experience working with global/distributed teams.
  • Strong ability to impact and influence without formal authority; confident and approachable and able to deliver results by building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with developing various enterprise technologies and frameworks, including but not limited to big data, Spark, SQL databases, distributed computing, Datalakes and Lakehouses, service integrations and service development architectures.
  • Undergraduate degree and/or post-graduate degree, preferable in Mathematics, Engineering, Business or Finance
  • Knowledge of SDLC lifecycle, Agile, others

Nice-to-have

  • Prior experience in Capital Markets, Risk and/or Finance technology areas within a financial Service organization
  • Priori experience in Corporate Treasury technology space covering Liquidity, Capital or Interest Rate Risk
  • Cloud certified and any prior experience deploying solutions to public cloud.
