What is the opportunity?

The Clearing and Settlements team within Quantitative and Technology Services (QTS) is responsible for the development and support of applications which facilitate the processing and settlement of transactions that are captured in front office systems; as such, the applications developed by the team typically fall in the category of enterprise application integration.

The team both maintains (installs, configures, patches) several vendor systems that are used in the clearing and settlements space (CLS Manager, Clarity, SWIFT Alliance Access, SWIFT Alliance Gateway, SWIFT Alliance Web Platform) and develops software for application integration using TIBCO BusinessWorks and Spring Boot.

What will you do?

  • Partner with our technology service providers to ensure software updates are applied in a timely manner to protect the safety and soundness of the systems we operate.

  • Improve the quality of our environment by implementing steps to reduce support cost and increase system availability through application monitoring and alerting, automation of application maintenance tasks and resolution of recurring problems.

  • Develop and deploy software applications ensuring compliance with defined/standardized quality specifications using Spring Boot / Integration and TIBCO BusinessWorks.

  • Act as an escalation contact for run-the-bank support team to troubleshoot production issues and incidents (on-call schedule rotating between different team members).

  • Implement software solutions for application integration to support business initiatives.

  • Create and update technical documentation as well as provide training to development and support colleagues.

  • Ensure change management procedures are followed.

  • Remain current with Agile, DevOps and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) practices.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 7+ years of Java software development experience.

  • Previous UNIX experience as either a user or system administrator.

  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure (e.g., application servers, databases, messaging infrastructure).

  • Ability to design and implement/test complex business functionality.

  • Experience in test case design at different levels (component/service, integration, end-to- end/user scenarios) or Non-Functional testing.

  • Experience provisioning infrastructure on which the different applications run (e.g. installing and configuring vendor systems or in-house applications on RHEL 8, etc.);Willingness to be on-call (on a rotational schedule) acting as an escalation contact for the production support team if troubleshooting/investigation is needed; Ability to document in clear detail solutions developed and implemented

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in financial services sector with a preference for Capital Markets.

  • Linux system administration.

  • Use of DevOps including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment concepts.

  • Experience with relational database management systems and message-oriented middleware.

  • Experience with TIBCO Business Works or a similar integration product
