Position: Vice President and Chief Learning Officer

Purpose

  • Provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight for Global Learning strategy, building future-focused, innovative and best in class learning solutions that enables the development of winning teams that aligns to the Bank's priorities.


Accountabilities

  • Defines COE learning strategy and plan, that is nimble and which can flex to the Bank's evolving needs, informed by data-driven insights, as well as leading learning practices.
  • Act as Chief Learning Officer, advocating for and enabling the development of winning teams in alignment with people strategies.
  • Act as a sponsor of the Community of Practice for Learning globally, ensuring sharing and adoption of best practices, better integration of innovative learning solutions, and collaboration /partnership across the broader global learning team.
  • Lead the team to deliver innovative learning solutions that are aligned to Bank strategy, global learning strategy and relevant to business needs.
  • Leads an in house Design and Development team responsible for digital learning solutions and Scotia Academy
  • Develops comprehensive engagement plans, which outlines the socialization of future learning activities and tools across the Bank.
  • Leads and drives a winning team culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
  • Lead the team to deliver the best learner experience possible, leveraging technology, digital tools and modern approaches to content design and delivery.
  • Ensures a robust and effective governance structure, with clear policies, standards and decision making rights, to be carried out by the appropriate governing bodies (e.g. Learning Council).
  • Directs day-to-day activities in a manner consistent with the Bank's risk culture and the relevant risk appetite statement and limits. Communicates the Bank's risk culture and risk appetite statement throughout their teams.
  • Creates an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Builds a winning team environment and implements a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

Education & Experience

  • Undergraduate degree mandatory
  • Graduate degree or certificate in Adult Education
  • Spanish language skills preferable; French an asset
  • Business experience mandatory
  • Experience managing a large team
  • Superior communicator
