Position Title: Fair Treatment of Clients (FTC) Distribution Strategy Lead
Reports To: AVP, Client Impact & Sustainability

Term: Temporary Full-Time, Twelve (12) Month Contract

Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The FTC Distribution and Product Lead will play a pivotal role in the achievement of our overall FTC strategy, as it relates to distribution compensation, product and pricing strategies. This role will engage across the enterprise across the lines of business, including executives and senior leaders in Individual Insurance, Sales & Retirement and Group businesses, to ensure distribution activities meet our FTC guidelines and ambition.

What you will be doing:

  • Support the FTC Distribution strategy and develop appropriate guidelines, policies, and practices that impact distribution and create fair outcomes for clients to achieve Equitable’s vision and strategy for FTC
  • Identify, communicate and devise strategies as it relates to enterprise risk and opportunities as it relates to distribution and FTC
  • Set and monitor key performance indicators for FTC as it relates to distribution, advice, and product development dimensions
  • Ensure that all sales incentives, promotions and campaigns meet FTC expectations and evaluate the overall impact to clients
  • Ensure marketing allowances and distribution compensation grid processes meet FTC expectations
  • Ensure the continuous improvement of the FTC monitoring framework for distribution impacts
  • Provide thought leadership, advice and support to marketing, product development, distribution and business initiatives as required
  • Ability to stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitor activities to stay ahead of a rapidly changing environment.


What you will bring:

  • Must be client obsessed and have deep industry experience including insurance distribution, advice channels and strategies, and product and pricing strategies
  • Strong leadership & change management experience
  • Must have extensive understanding of insurance distribution channels and strategies
  • Strategic thinker with excellent relationship management skills
  • Ability to negotiate, influence and leverage themselves across the organization
  • Proven track record of leading initiatives in insurance distribution
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for Fair Treatment of Clients
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with business units and distribution partners, provide feedback and coaching to evolve our FTC program
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated experience as a forward thinker and a problem-solver with project management skills and the ability to execute strategic plans
  • Ability to work independently with good initiative and judgement
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in a business or related field, and at least 15 years distribution experience in insurance
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficiency with common office software
