Position Title: Group Communications Consultant
Reports to:
Manager, Group Marketing

Department: Group Insurance
Term: Permanent Full-Time


Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

This role is responsible for growing our Group Benefits' business and building our profile within the Canadian marketplace through creative communication and marketing to our Advisors, Plan Sponsors and Plan Members.

What you will be doing:

  • Develop marketing and communication strategies to support business priorities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop product, program and campaign messaging that effectively positions Equitable in the Canadian Group Benefits marketplace
  • Produce clear and effective marketing materials to meet the needs of both internal and external audiences
  • Manage the marketing communication process to ensure deliverables for product launches, campaigns and projects are produced on time, on budget and meet brand and quality standards
  • Manage the process for developing the content of Group's internal and external web sites and mobile tools
  • Plan, write, produce and distribute Equitable's Advisor, Plan Administrator and Plan Member bulletins.
  • Write media press releases and trade publication articles
  • Support Sales in articulating the strength and capabilities of Equitable
  • Provide communications and logistic support for industry events, webinars and tradeshows
  • Develop and provide training to internal audiences to support Group projects and product launches
  • Research, implement and maintain digital marketing, advertising and lead generation strategies
  • Monitor marketing communications trends to identify tools and tactics that help engage our key audiences and build sales.



What you will bring:

  • Five+ years of experience in a communications or marketing role. Financial services experience is a bonus
  • Post-secondary education with a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field
  • Well-developed copywriting skills with the ability to communicate using a range of print and digital media
  • Ability to develop, recommend and implement marketing and communications strategies for diverse audiences
  • Ability to effectively lead initiatives, gain support and build consensus with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to plan and execute multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to understand complex concepts and communicate them in clear, simple and compelling messages
  • Strong organization and prioritization skills
  • Innovative problem-solver with strong analytical and decision-making skills
  • Ability to drive projects through to completion by collaborating with colleagues or working independently
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office applications, PowerPoint, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience with digital marketing platforms (e.g. MailChimp, Hubspot, GoogleAds, etc.) and inbound marketing campaigns is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate in both English and French is an asset
