Position Title: Senior myFlex Benefits Specialist

Reports To: Manager, Group Administration

Department: Group Claims and Admin Management
Term: Permanent Full-Time



Work Arrangements: This is a hybrid role. You will work in our office in Waterloo, ON a minimum of two (2) assigned, consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) assigned day per month. You are welcome to work from the office more than the minimum requirement and there may be some roles that are required to work in our office more than the minimum requirement.

The Opportunity: We're looking for a Senior myFlex Benefits Specialist to provide excellent customer service to both external customers and internal partners. You'll use your in-depth knowledge to support the set-up of new business and existing business while providing guidance and support to the rest of the team.



What you will be doing:

  • Audit the setup of new business and amendments, including the review of contracts and booklets.
  • Audit policy renewals and terminations.
  • Provide customer service and support to both internal and external customers, including myFlex Account Executives, Advisors, and internal business units (mAMs). This includes problem-solving, handling exceptions, answering inquiries, and preventing errors.
  • Resolve complex myFlex situations that require advanced, in-depth knowledge of group insurance, operations, and policy within the myFlex team.
  • Act as Subject Matter Experts for product development, projects, and system changes.
  • Maintain the senior myFlex inbox, including managing drug exceptions, exclusions, and rush requests.
  • Act as a resource to provide advice, direction, and problem-solving assistance to myFlex Benefits Specialists.
  • Collaborate with the Training and Development team to maintain department procedures and training manuals, ensuring clarity and usability.
  • Train new myFlex Benefits Specialists and provide ongoing training to existing staff on process and system enhancements.
  • Provide backup to Administration as needed in the administration of regular groups.



What you will bring:

  • The ability to work collaboratively with peers, myFlex Sales Managers, and other head office operational teams
  • Excellent communication skills, including effective listening and the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities, utilizing research skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply contract provisions and administrative guidelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of all MS Office applications and the ability to learn new system applications.
  • Ability to handle high volume of work within a fast-paced environment.
  • Aptitude for a high level of service.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Comprehensive understanding of group insurance and the ability to learn new processes.
  • Strong organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities and prioritization skills.
  • Logical reasoning abilities in relation to business accounting and practices.
  • Post-Secondary education or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • ACS/Loma/CEBS designation an asset.
