Position Title: Translator - English to French

Reports To: Manager, Translation services

Department: Corporate Communications
Term: Temporary Full-Time, One (1) Year Contract


Work Arrangements: You will work from your home office 100% of the time. You may be required to be in-person at our office in Waterloo, ON or another assigned location within the Waterloo Region, on an as needed basis. Sales related roles may be required to travel based on the assignment.



The Opportunity: Join Equitable in an exciting temporary role as we embark on a transformative project to revitalize our website. We are looking for a translator to work on the translation team, dedicated to translating web content from English to French while adhering to writing guidelines across our website, collaborating in review cycles, and ensuring the page meets French language requirements.



What you will be doing:

  • Accurately translate web content, including marketing materials, forms, product descriptions from English to French.
  • Collaborate with English copywriters, design, and the web team to ensure accuracy.
  • Work closely with web developers, designers, content creators to ensure integration of translated content into the website.
  • Use suitable terminology for the insurance and financial services sector, in accordance with Equitable standards.
  • Complete review and final approvals of website staging before publishing.
  • Proofread final content.
  • Carry out other related tasks as needed.
  • Participate in translation team meetings.
  • Maintain status tracking documents in preparation for weekly status calls.
  • Participate in project status calls.



What you will bring:

  • Certificate or degree in translation from a recognized institution.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Great attitude, team player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in both French and English.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Adaptability to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Capacity to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using SDL Trados Studio translation software.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Nitro).
