Job Description:

Contract: 12 months


The Group Retirement Services (GRS) Client Relationship Account Manager (AM) will be responsible for developing strong internal and external client relationships to support designated Client Relationship Executives (CREs) to ensure client satisfaction and client loyalty. The GRS client base is supported with a broad range of retirement and investment products and service offerings, varying in design within the national accounts segments. This position reports to the Director Plan Sponsor Services.


Main accountabilities:

  • Develop strong relationships with the clients in the account management block to maintain a high level of client satisfaction. Understand the frequency of meetings, client specific reports, plan design and active or upcoming projects.

  • Interaction with the clients and responding to client requests in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Partner, build and enhance relationships with the CREs that have overall ownership of the client

  • Support the CREs proactively in activities aiming to increase client satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Participate in the sales process and support the CREs in their effort to grow the business.

  • Participate in client meetings/conference calls, specific to supported initiatives

  • Escalate items that may impact the client relationship, loyalty or deliverables to CREs' attention.

  • Take ownership, provide recommendations and be accountable for the resolution on any identified client issues at hand, or as agreed upon with the CREs.

  • Work with local GRS coordinator to organize and facilitate client meetings. Ensure appropriate logistics are in place.

  • Review presentation or other meeting materials prepared by GRS coordinators prior to client meetings. Ensure that all materials prepared for clients meet Sun Life's standards for managing client communication and provide clear agenda and effective focus.

  • Develop strong working relationships with internal GRS teams by ensuring open communication and scheduling regular touch point meetings

  • Manage active projects to ensure that deadlines and objectives are met as agreed upon with CRE and/or the client.

  • Coordinate the implementation of plan changes by managing internal resources involved in the process.

  • Document and share action items agreed with the client and/or CREs, or CREs and all appropriate internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate and up to date data on CRM on Demand.

  • Validate accuracy of data being returned by coordinators and subject matter experts in partner areas.

  • Handle all client inquiries of administrative nature.

  • Complete other initiatives as assigned.

Competencies:

  • Experience in a client facing role preferable with 2 years or more working with group pension and savings clients.

  • Proven, strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec.

  • Strong problem solving skills. Ability to quickly and effectively resolve client concerns.

  • Highly motivated, independent self-starter with strong business acumen and negotiation skills.

  • Broad knowledge of the services provided by Sun Life Financial Group Retirement Services.

  • Knowledge of legislation governing retirement savings programs at the federal and provincial levels.

  • Understanding of emerging regulatory trends and possible implications for clients.

  • Strong presentation and project management skills PowerPoint, Excel and Word.

  • Superior organizational skills and the ability to follow through.

  • University degree or equivalent.

  • Certificate/licensed with l'Autorité des marchés financiers in 2A or 2C categories

  • A professional designation associated with the group retirement services industry (e.g. CEBS, RPA, IFIC, CSC, other)

  • Willingness to travel

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
