The location in Montreal, (Quebec, Canada), is seeking talent to fill the position of Advisor, Pension Plans. This job is full-time permanent.

The mission of the Pension Plans group is to efficiently manage the Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension plans in Canada and the USA and ensure their conformity.

Reporting to the Manager, Pension Plans, your role will consist in managing the retirement programs and fulfilling the company's governance requirements.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Canadian and U.S administrators;
  • Act as a resource person for the Employee Service Centre personnel, Human Resources from different locations and vendors;
  • Interpret legislation, regulations, plan provisions, bargaining agreements and HR policies and ensure alignment with Domtar's administration and processes;
  • Manage the pension materials including plan amendments, policies/guidelines, employee pension plan summaries and other Domtar plan documents;
  • Send the documents required by law to the authorities;
  • Participate in the governance and administration of the pension plans;
  • Coordinate various tasks (financial statements, data validation, PA, DE, pension statements, implementation of index adjustments and negotiated changes).
  • Organize, plan, and prepare the necessary documents for pension committee meetings;
  • Actively participate in committee meetings, ensuring proper governance (taking minutes, maintaining up-to-date records for various plans);
  • Handle logistics for off-site meetings, including planning and coordinating travel arrangements.

Key Skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and an ability to understand and use current technologies;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction and with a great attention to details;
  • Strong verbal and written French and English communication skills including the ability to interpret and document plan provisions.


Professional Experience/Qualifications:

  • You hold a university degree in actuarial mathematics, administration or an equivalent discipline;
  • You have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the administration of Canadian pension plans;
  • Knowledge of defined-contribution plans and/or American pension plans is considered an asset;
  • You are fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.
