Job Description:

Reporting to one of the Managers, the Best Practice Consultant participates in the development and implementation of effective best practices and processes for the Individual Insurance and Wealth teams. Supporting New business, in force and claims, IFO and Fixed Wealth, the Consultant ensures consistency and supports the organizational needs. They drive change and deliver outcomes which allow us to achieve performance excellence and continue to grow our business.

Who are we?

The Individual Best Practice team maintains a close working relationship with Operational leaders to execute on changes impacting their teams. Our team consists of 6 diverse PODs aligned to key areas of focus.

Insurance Innovation, Digital & Process Design - Hub for improvement agenda - Lead and consult on innovations and cross-functional improvement initiatives for Insurance Operations

Wealth Innovation, Digital & Process Design - Hub for improvement agenda - Lead and consult on innovations and cross-functional improvement initiatives for Wealth Operations

Product & Specialty Marketing - Develop process and change management plans to support Operations and product management with Product launches

Manage Risk - Partner with Operational Risk Management team to identify, assess and mitigate the top risk issues across Insurance Operations. Develop process and change management plans to support regulatory changes.

Operational Continuous Improvement and Tools - Execute on tools related initiatives and on quick continuous improvements ideas to deliver fast incremental value across Insurance and Wealth Operations

Knowledge Management and Tools - Improve and maintain workflow, forms, tools and knowledge management across Insurance and Wealth Operations

What will you do?

  • Act as a consultant on transformational projects championed by other teams

  • Participate in the creation of new digital tools to support the Insurance and Wealth customer value stream

  • Leading/project managing DMAIC projects for A3 problems

  • Deliver changes to the business by operationalizing projects, including impact analysis to determine Operational effort required to support changes

  • Providing training support related to new systems, products, or process

  • Accountable for project progress and benefit

  • Developing a control plan to ensure improvement sustainability and conduct process confirmations

  • Responsible for measuring and capturing benefits

  • Identify opportunities and champion proposals for improvements

What will you need to succeed?

  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

  • Knowledge of Individual Insurance and Wealth products and the distribution channels that sell and service them

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills

  • Ability to contribute to and execute on strategies and business plans

  • Passionate about delivering an exceptional Client experience

  • Strong oral and written communication

  • Proven strength in facilitation and presentation skills

  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects with exceptional time management capabilities

  • Ability to act independently with some guidance and direction

  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize to meet business objectives

  • Balance of attention to detail with big picture understanding

  • Ability to work with some ambiguity and take ownership of tasks

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment with a desire to lead the change

Assets:

  • Hands on knowledge and training on Six Sigma, Lean, Design Thinking or other process improvement and innovation methodologies

  • Possess or working toward Project Management Professional (PMP) designation and/or Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt certification

  • Operational management knowledge

  • LOMA - ACS for Insurance

  • Experience working with legal, compliance, distribution, or product teams.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
