About the role

Join the Chief Risk Office's Business and Operational Risk team, in the Bilingual Specialist, Quality Assurance role. Your expertise in risk management, governance, and internal controls will play a pivotal role in offering strategic insight into risk governance and internal controls at CMHC. In addition, you will be supporting the oversight of third-party risk management and/or technology risk management.

What you'll do:

  • Conduct targeted oversight and independently challenge, deliver advice and report on operational risk insights for various business lines across the corporation.
  • Cultivate strategic alliances with peers and external stakeholders, ensuring alignment with CMHC's mission, vision, and strategic objectives.
  • Aid in crafting metrics and processes to assess, report, and escalate operational risks.
  • Apply a nuanced understanding of operational risk oversight, key risk indicators, and business performance metrics insights.
  • Provide advice to 1B on risk management and effectiveness of controls.
  • Aggregate and report on enterprise risks to Senior Management and the Board.
  • Lead enterprise-wide risk training and awareness initiatives.

What you should have:

  • An undergraduate degree in computer science, business administration, commerce, management information systems, law, economics, IT, or a related domain.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience working in an operational risk oversight or internal audit function.
  • A demonstrated audit or risk oversight experience in at least one of these areas: general operational risk oversight, data management/governance, IT technology risk, vendor risk management, technology risk, or data management/governance.
  • Stellar interpersonal and communication abilities, encompassing top-notch reporting and presentation skills, as well as proven project management capabilities.
  • Bilingualism (English and French).


It would be great if you also had:

  • A certification or designation in risk management or a relevant field of study (i.e., governance, compliance, audit, business), such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
  • Data visualization experience for impactful dashboard and reports.
  • A demonstrated knowledge of IT frameworks.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislations for Government/Crown Corporations and application of these concepts in risk management.
