About the role

We're looking for an exemplary writer and storyteller to bring creativity and precision to our communications.

This is an opportunity based out of our Toronto, or Montreal office.

In this role, you will create engaging messaging for our broker audience to support us in strengthening our B2B brand. We value stories as a way to enrich the relationship we have with brokers, their customers, and our employees. This means that we value you for your ability to weave a compelling tale and tactically lay out the details, mindful of each audience for whom you're creating an experience. You will develop multi-platform content from start to finish, which may include written, video and audio content, across multiple platforms and audiences (external, internal, social). You will also play a key role in supporting our senior executives in effectively delivering our message at various opportunities. A candidate with a strong communications background and or journalism experience would be well-equipped for this role.

  • Understanding what makes a story great:, a hook, authenticity, details and a strong call-to-action
  • Keen sense of newsworthiness (what makes a story compelling from the audience's perspective)
  • Stellar writing skills; understanding of newswriting techniques
  • Strong business acumen and ability to translate strategy into meaningful and engaging communications
  • Building strategic communications plans and associated initiatives from beginning to end
  • Assessing the needs of each project, getting buy-in, implementing the plan and measuring impact
  • Acting as a trusted advisor to develop strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues at all levels

Requirements :

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in journalism and/or communications
  • Degree in communications, marketing or journalism
  • Experience in creating strategic communications plans (from research through to measurement and evaluation) and in designing specific content strategies to meet organizational objectives
  • Experience crafting editorial calendars and in re-purposing stories across platforms
  • Experience leveraging personas to develop audience-targeted messaging and stories that inspire action
  • Excellent communication skills in person and in writing
  • A strong ability to grasp strategy and complex issues and create clear effective messaging
  • Proven ability to deliver creative or strategic work on time, and to manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously
  • Proven ability to create alignment among multiple stakeholders
  • Understanding of market research, brand, marketing campaign structure/discipline
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
  • No Canadian work experience required but must have authorization to work in Canada
