Job Description:

This is an ideal role for someone with an interest in privacy and compliance who wants to learn working with a hands-on team. The Compliance Analyst supports the Canada Privacy Shared Services Team as part of the broader Canada Compliance organization. The primary responsibilities involve monitoring and triaging the Privacy Officer and Ask_Privacy inboxes, and provision of support for the team. The Compliance Analyst will be the team's documentation expert, responsible to develop, update and manage process documents, user manuals, and other team materials. This role will also own the population of a business facing site with tools and aids designed to assist the business in understanding and meeting their privacy requirements. Assistance with reporting and meeting/presentation preparation is also required.

What will you do?

  • Monitor team's communication channels, respond to inquiries and escalate complex issues as needed

  • Communicate with business partners to conduct quality checks on JIRA tracker entries for privacy incidents and access to file requests, manage access to JIRA and other tools

  • Manage information in designated repositories in SharePoint, OneDrive etc. including resource and training materials, correspondence with regulators and reports

  • Develop Canadian Privacy site content using SharePoint

  • Assisting with privacy impact assessments

  • Identify training and awareness needs and support training initiatives

  • Create and maintain operational manuals and process documentation

  • Support scheduled, ad-hoc and customized reporting and presentations

  • Participate in and support team projects, and

  • New tasks as required

What do you need to succeed?

  • University degree or 5 years of equivalent experience

  • Experience working with different compliance and business teams across the organization

  • Exposure to compliance processes and requirements

  • Knowledge of Sun Life products and services, the regulatory environment and emerging issues impacting the business

  • Completion of a Privacy designation is an asset

  • Knowledge of French is an asset

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Co Pilot

  • Ability to interact with all levels in the organization, engaging various stakeholders

  • Ability to recognize special requirements when handling sensitive information

  • Understanding of general regulatory compliance concepts and privacy principles

  • University degree or equivalent experience

  • Bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada and worldwide

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
