The Coordinator, Sustainability Reporting is responsible for collecting CN's sustainability data and information to enable effective, consistent and comparable reporting activities to support internal and external communication initiatives. The position looks to maintain and improve CN's reputation by ensuring that sustainability information used with key stakeholders is clear, easy-to-understand, and consistent. These activities support the development, implementation and ongoing management of CN's sustainability strategy as well as tracking CN's overall performance.
· Support the annual data collection process required for key disclosures including CN's Delivering Responsibly, annual Data Supplement, Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), and S&P Global Corporate Assessment focused on social, and governance aligned Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
· Assist in engaging with internal stakeholders in the data collection process to help ensure accuracy by maintaining documentation and approvals of data related to CN's sustainability reporting
· Conduct research on best practices and sustainability trends, as well as perform industry-wide and best-in-class benchmarking
· Help review current processes, identify improvement areas, and recommend process enhancements
· Support the maintenance of CN's systems for data tracking, performance management and reporting of sustainability results and impacts
· Contribute to the production of CN's annual sustainability disclosures and reporting including Delivering Responsibly, the annual Data Supplement, CDP, S&P Global Corporate Assessment helping ensure alignment to frameworks including Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
· Ensure consistency in the presentation of sustainability data across various communication channels (e.g., annual reports, presentations, website)
· Support the development of visuals to effectively communicate sustainability data and performance
· Assist in the completion of sustainability-focused data requests from investors, customers, and suppliers as required
· Help manage internal and external stakeholder data requests by providing insights and supporting requests for sustainability information
· Assist in maintaining a CN sustainability performance trend report that incorporates peer, key customer and supplier performance
· Research emerging trends, regulations, and standards in sustainability focused on North American markets
· Support the management of sustainability communications with peer companies and trade associations establishing common sustainability performance metrics, benchmarks, and self-assessments in the rail industry based on the Railway Association of Canada (RACs) Sustainability Framework
· Monitor trends and best practices in external sustainability reporting
The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, the incumbent must be able to meet tight deadlines, handle pressure and stress.
