What you will do
Foster a Data-Driven Culture: Champion the management of data as a strategic organizational asset, while building strong, collaborative relationships with business leaders, technology partners and other support functions to embed data governance across the enterprise;
Design and implement data management framework: Take charge of designing and implementing all aspects of data management including metadata management, data catalog, lineage, and data pipelines controls, ensuring seamless integration of data for critical decision-making, regulatory compliance, and operational use cases;
Build and maintain Data Quality program: lead requirements gathering, perform assessment, and monitor & maintain data quality, to ensure data remains accurate, consistent, and dependable throughout its lifecycle;
Safeguard Data Privacy and Security: Implement measures to secure sensitive information, ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and preventing unauthorized access or breaches;
Manage Data Access and Usability: Enable smooth access and utilization of data resources across departments, making sure data is easily retrievable and optimally used for business needs;
Empower data driven decision-making: ensure the organization leverages high-quality data for reporting, strategic insights, analytics, and informed decision-making processes;
Determine Roles and Responsibilities: as we build out the Data Management office, define and allocate responsibilities including data owners, data stewards, working groups, etc. for data management and governance tasks, ensuring accountability throughout the organization.
What you will bring
The education. Bachelor's or master's degree in business, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field. The experience. 10+ years of experience in data management, governance, or analytics, with 5+ years in a leadership role. Hands-on experience implementing, expansion, and using one or more leading data quality software products at scale like Atlan, Collibra, Informatica, etc. The skills. Highly skilled in the data management tooling across AWS, Azure - including data lineage, metadata management, CDEs, profiling, catalog, business glossary, data policy, and data quality, etc. and experience managing or implementing a Data Governance Framework at an Enterprise-Wide level. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead, coach and motivate team members and foster collaboration across business and technical units. Excellent communication and change management skills, with experience driving enterprise-wide data governance and data quality initiatives.
The knowledge. Knowledge of data-related regulatory requirements, including PIPEDA, CASL, Bill C-27, CPPA, GDPR, AIDA, and Bill 64. Proficiency in modern data stack architecture (ingestion, storage, transformation, and visualization) and hands-on experience with data quality solutions.
The drive. Proven ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment. Ability to get involved and work with team members in a hands-on management capacity.
