Job Description:

As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only as the position reports to a unilingual English-speaking manager outside Quebec.

We seek a visionary product leader to drive our global InnerSource Platform and Generative AI (GenAI) pattern delivery. As the Director of InnerSource Platform, you'll champion a culture of collaboration, developer community building and relations, user-centric design, and continuous improvement across our organization.

What will you do?

Product Strategy and Vision:

  • Develop a compelling product roadmap for our InnerSource Platform, aligning with organizational goals and user needs
  • Articulate the value proposition of InnerSource and GenAI products to stakeholders at all levels
  • Continuously evolve the platform based on user feedback and emerging technologies

Agile Product Development:

  • Lead cross-functional teams in designing, developing, and iterating on the InnerSource Platform GenAI architecture patterns and global GenAI applications, such as "Sun Life Asks"
  • Prioritize features and manage the product backlog to deliver maximum value
  • Implement data-driven decision making, using metrics and analytics to measure product success and user adoption

User-Centric Design:

  • Conduct user research and gather insights to inform decision making
  • Ensure all platform features and GenAI applications are intuitive, scalable, and solve real user problems
  • Create and refine user personas and journey maps to guide product development

Innovation Leadership:

  • Foster a culture of experimentation and rapid prototyping
  • Organize hackathons and innovation challenges to spark new ideas and solutions
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, particularly in GenAI and cloud computing

Community Building and Adoption:

  • Cultivate an active InnerSource community, focusing on user engagement and satisfaction by fostering developer relations.
  • Develop and execute strategies to drive pattern adoption across the organization
  • Create compelling documentation, tutorials, and best practices to support user onboarding and success

Communication and Change Management:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align features and initiatives with business objectives
  • Effectively communicate product vision, roadmap, and progress to diverse audiences
  • Work closely with Architecture, Security, and Legal teams to address governance and compliance requirements

What do you need to succeed?

  • 10+ years of experience in product / platform management and software development, with at least 5 years leading / managing product teams
  • Proven track record of successfully launching and scaling enterprise software products
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and agile methodologies
  • Experience with GenAI technologies and cloud platforms, particularly AWS services like Bedrock and SageMaker would be desirable. However, we will also consider other similar technologies experience within the Azure or GCP space.
  • A background in InnerSource or OpenSource platforms would be desirable, but not essential. We seek a strategic platform owner, first and foremost.
  • Excellent and executive effective communication and storytelling skills; able to inspire and influence at all levels
  • Data and AI literate with experience in product analytics and experimentation
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, product management, or related field.

What's in it for you:
