Job Description:

About the role:

Illustrations are used by advisors and are instrumental in the servicing of Sun Life products. The In Force Illustration Consultant reports to the Manager, In Force Illustrations and Calculations and is a member of the In Force Illustrations and Calculations Team within Individual Service Operations.

The In Force Illustration Consultant is responsible for providing top quality illustrations, calculations, an expertise for Traditional and Universal Life products to advisors, customers and internal business partners. The Consultant is a resource, on team trainer and as required, Operational Quality Assessor.

What will you do?

  • Produce manual in force illustrations for all Traditional and Universal Life products
  • Manually calculate premiums, dividends, loans and cash values for Traditional and Universal Life products
  • Understand and provide comprehensive explanations of the illustrations
  • Understand and apply various formulae and calculations correctly
  • Understand and apply various internal and external Life Insurance rules and regulations correctly
  • Subject Matter Expert for procedure improvements, product and system enhancements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with advisors and internal business partners

What do you need to succeed?

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in individual life insurance, having knowledge of Traditional and Universal Life Insurance products
  • Ability to learn and understand different computer systems and programs quickly
  • High level attention to detail to reduce risk of error with complex data
  • Highly effective communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong logic, problem solving and mathematical skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated, self-directed and work independently in a fast paced, changing environment
  • Solid understanding of Excel
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or partners across Canada or worldwide.

Preferred Skills:

  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Process improvement experience
  • Proficiency on the following mainframe systems: CSW, Ingenium Life, MLIF, TSO
  • Experience using Customer Service Workbench (CSW)

Unique Requirements:

  • Ability to work overtime when needed to meet the demands of the workload.
  • Must be willing to provide phone coverage until 5:00 pm on a rotating basis
  • Candidates must complete and achieve a high score on the complex math test (Grade 12)

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
