Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is looking for a highly motivated person to fulfill a full-time (40h/week) Intern, Data Migration and Governance, Analyst position in Montreal, QC from May - Aug 2025.
Job Summary
The Intern, Data Migration and Governance, Analyst is responsible for contributing to the implementation of data management and governance strategies in a large and complex Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) business transformation. The position helps develop skills and practical experience in a data-centric digital transformation. The role consists of assisting business and Information and Technology (I&T) stakeholders in performing Master Data profiling, cleansing and construction so it meets CN requirements before being migrated to the new system. Additionally, the position involves identification and validation of Master Data Governance (MDG) rules and workflows to ensure newly created Master Data complies with CN requirements as it gets defined over time. The areas of business covered by the Master Data will be the Mechanical department (which targets rolling assets, such as locomotives) and the Engineering department (which targets the non-rolling assets, such as tracks, signalling, and bridges). The incumbent takes part in the validation and integrated testing cycles that are being planned as part of the transformation program.
Major Responsibilities
Master Data Conversion and Quality
· Identify data objects and profiling quality
· Assist stakeholders in Master Data cleansing, construction strategies and implementation
· Participate actively in Master Data Conversion Mock cycles, from data loading, analysis, corrective measure implementation and validation
· Enhance and promote the Master Data quality tool Proof of Business Value
· Be involved in specialized Data Conversion platforms, such as Syniti ADM
Master Data Governance
· Assist stakeholders in identifying, implementing, and validating Master Data business rules and workflow requirements in conjunction with business owners
· Validate data governance roadmap and strategy on specialized tools and platforms, such as System, Applications, and Products (SAP) MDG and Asset Information Workbench (AIW)
· Participate in Integrated Test Cycles, as defined by the program, to validate Master Data-related Business Processes
Requirements
· Interest in managing data and business processes

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and other equivalent productivity tools) way)
· Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) scripting*

Education
· Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in any Technical or Business fields with interest in data management, including Business Analysis and Processes, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, and Engineering
