We are looking for a Payroll Technician to join our team in our Montreal office!

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Technician will support the payroll process for some of our divisions in Canada. He/she will be responsible for preparing payroll, transmitting files, compiling data and preparing reports required by various entities within the organization.

Your day as a Payroll Technician

  • Assume activities related to the complete payroll cycle, preparation, verification and submission of payroll for approximately 500 employees across Canada.
  • Make changes to employee files (create new employees, adjust salaries, add/modify taxable benefits and/or miscellaneous deductions, terminations, Record of Employment, etc.).
  • Provide necessary explanations to staff on various deductions or other payroll requirements.
  • Coordinate alimony remittances, foreclosures, etc.
  • Prepare journal entries and issue various monthly and ad hoc reports.
  • Assist with year-end process.
  • Analyze and account for group insurance invoices.
  • Perform various reconciliations.
  • Perform all other related tasks.

Our ideal candidate

  • 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • DEC in administrative techniques, accounting or other relevant training.
  • Certification as a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) is an asset.
  • Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and in English as the candidate will be required to interact in English with stakeholders (colleagues and clients) outside Quebec.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (advanced Excel).
  • Good analytical skills, ability to manage stress and meet deadlines.
  • Thoroughness and rigor.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with particular aptitude for time management.
