About the role
We're looking for an exemplary writer and storyteller to bring creativity and precision to our communications. This opportunity is based out of our Toronto or Montreal office.
In this role, you will create engaging messaging for our internal teams and broker audiences to support us in strengthening our B2B brand. We value stories as a way of enriching the relationships we have with brokers, their customers, and our employees. Your ability to weave a compelling tale and tactically lay out the details, mindful of each audience for whom you're creating an experience, will be highly valued. You will develop multi-platform content from start to finish. That may include written, video, and audio content, across multiple platforms and audiences (external, internal, social). You will also play a key role in supporting our senior executives in effectively delivering our message at various opportunities. A candidate with a strong communications background and/or journalism experience would be well-equipped for this role.
What you'll do here:
Understand what makes a story great: a hook, authenticity, details, and a strong call-to-action.
Demonstrate a keen sense of newsworthiness (what makes a story compelling from the audience's perspective).
Exhibit stellar writing skills and an understanding of newswriting techniques.
Possess strong business acumen and the ability to translate strategy into meaningful and engaging communications.
Build strategic communications plans and associated initiatives from beginning to end.
Assess the needs of each project, obtain buy-in, implement the plan, and measure impact.
Act as a trusted advisor to develop strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues at all levels.

Shares the Intact story in a compelling and engaging way to multiple audiences, across any platform, to inspire action.
Envisions and helps to implement an "always on" communication plan that weaves a connected narrative across multiple platforms and audiences (external, internal, social).
Builds strong relationships with internal business partners and colleagues across the organization and is known for their ability to tell a compelling story.
Lives the Intact values and serves as a role model to others.
What you bring to the table:
5+ years of relevant experience in journalism and/or communications.
Degree in communications, marketing, or journalism.
Experience in creating strategic communications plans (from research through to measurement and evaluation) and in designing specific content strategies to meet organizational objectives.
Experience crafting editorial calendars and in re-purposing stories across platforms.
Experience leveraging personas to develop audience-targeted messaging and stories that inspire action.
Excellent communication skills in person and in writing.
A strong ability to grasp strategy and complex issues and create clear, effective messaging.
Proven ability to deliver creative or strategic work on time, and to manage multiple projects and expectations simultaneously.
Proven ability to create alignment among multiple stakeholders.
Understanding of market research, brand, and marketing campaign structure/discipline.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
Bilingualism (English/French) - Need to interact on a regular basis with colleagues across the country.
