About the role

We are seeking an accomplished and visionary Data Engineering advisor to join our dynamic database marketing team. This role is pivotal in driving targeted marketing initiatives, including direct marketing and client communication towards an omnichannel engagement approach.

As a Senior Developer - Data engineering, you will lead the charge in ingesting data from diverse sources and executing complex transformations to deliver high-quality client communications and advance analytics insights-ready data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Modeling and Architecture:

    • Design and implement data models that support marketing analytics, including customer segmentation, personalisation, attribution modeling, and performance tracking.

    • Optimize database structures and indexing strategies to enhance query performance and data retrieval speeds.

  • Drive Change, Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

    • Act as a transformational leader by fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the database marketing team, while proactively identifying and implementing innovative solutions to enhance data engineering practices.

    • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data engineering, big data technologies, and marketing analytics.

  • Data Pipeline Development:

    • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of data from multiple sources, including CRM systems, web analytics platforms, social media, and third-party data providers.

    • Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data is clean, reliable, and accessible for client communications, analysis and reporting.

  • Data Integration:

    • Integrate data from various marketing platforms to create a unified and comprehensive view of customer interactions across different channels, enabling omnichannel marketing strategies.

    • Ensure seamless data flow between marketing automation tools, customer databases, and analytics platforms.

  • Data Quality Assurance:

    • Develop and implement data quality checks to identify and resolve data inconsistencies, duplicates, and errors.

    • Monitor data pipelines and perform regular audits to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

  • Collaborative Leadership:

    • Partner with senior developers, data experts, and data analysts, providing guidance and mentorship to elevate the team's capabilities.

    • Represent the team's needs and interests in important structural data projects (IT, Intact Lab etc).

    • Provide technical guidance and support to marketing team members, helping them leverage data effectively for campaign optimization and decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.

  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, ETL development, or data warehousing, with a track record of success in complex environments. Focus on marketing data and analytics experience.

  • Proficiency with big data and cloud technologies for handling large data volumes, with Snowflake, SQL, Oracle and Control-M as primary tools. Expertise in Snowflake is a must. Advanced skills in Python and PySpark programming languages.

  • Deep understanding of data management, security, and classification, coupled with knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Bilingual (French and English): Need to interact on a regular basis with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
