Job Description:

The Health Solutions business in Sun Life Canada plays an important role in helping to deliver on this purpose. As a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits & Innovation team in Health Solutions, the Senior Pharmaceutical Benefits Strategist plays an important role in shaping our industry-leading drug management offering. In this role the candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute to and shape the pharmaceutical benefits strategy
  • Work directly with Group Benefits Clients to implement Sun Life's drug management products and services and recommend innovative solutions
  • Represent Sun Life externally in the private payer market

What will you do?

  • In collaboration with Business Development, liaise with Clients to promote our drug management offering, to position Sun Life as the leading Canadian workplace drug benefits provider
  • Act as the primary contact for any pharma-related Client needs, such as annual drug plan reviews, and inquiries on our overall drug management offering
  • Work with internal and external partners to identify current trends and leverage these to shape our pharmaceutical benefits strategy
  • Lead the evolution of the overall pharmaceutical benefits strategy, including the development of specific product strategies, in collaboration with internal and external partners
  • Spearhead the development and delivery of pharma strategic narratives and thought leadership to internal and external audiences including Business Development, Clients and Advisors
  • Gather and update market related information specific to the pharmaceutical space
  • Monitor changes in pharmacy practice and government policy that may affect pharmaceutical group benefits

What do you need to succeed?

  • Pharmacist experience (retail, hospital, industry). Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment in Canada
  • At least 5 years of experience in the following sectors: insurance group benefits, pharmacy, market access within the pharmaceutical industry or pharma/health business consulting
  • This role requires a self-starter and strategic & critical thinker able to solve complex problems and develop relationships across the company
  • Experience utilizing and interpreting data to help drive Client and product strategies
  • Strong communication and presentation skills. Ability to communicate at all levels of an organization with clarity (verbal & written). Ability to package a strategy in a compelling easy to understand story
  • Well-organized and self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit ("owner's mindset") with the ability to handle multiple priorities and tight deadlines, both independently and as part of a team, to achieve results in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong collaborative and creative skills
  • As this position is posted in several locations, we specify that bilingualism (French, English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec only for the frequent interactions with English and French-speaking colleagues or internal partners across Canada or worldwide.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
