What is the opportunity?
The Branch Technology team is searching for a Senior Software Developer to join our team. As a Software Developer, you will partner with our other agile squads, business partners, and Site Reliability Engineering team in British Columbia/Calgary/Toronto to design, develop, and deploy capabilities for branch applications which all advisors use nationally. This role will help bring to life new capabilities and eliminate technical debt to enable RBC advisors to deliver a seamless client experience. What will you do?
Design, develop, implement, maintain, and support technical solutions supporting .NET applications on Windows 10/11 and cloud.
Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support technical solutions supporting mainframe hosted applications (under IBM’s system Z) including batch and other scheduled jobs.
Provide suggestions on areas for improvement within the application suite, with the goal of eliminating technical debt.
Document all updates and changes to applications.
Provides third-level support of applications, services, and databases, particularly for more complex scenarios.
Work cross functionally with business partners, other agile squads, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to prioritize and complete project work.
In this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Minimum 5+ years of development experience using .NET/C# to develop/maintain front-end applications and components, hosted on cloud and Windows
Experience with HTTP, SOAP, and REST protocols supporting cloud application development
Experience with security authorization/authentication mechanisms via OAuth, Active Directory, Application Certificates, etc.
Change/release management – experience deploying to production environments via cloud pipelines.
DevOps experience – usage of tools such as Dynatrace, Jenkins, GitHub, Kibana, Elastic, and UCD to configure/create a build after committing changes to auto-deploy the code and monitor failures.
Nice-to-have
Agile software development (software development life cycle) – experience working in a cross functional team as a software developer, from project ideation to production deployment
Experience supporting mainframe hosted applications including stored procedures JCL and other scheduled jobs
