Junior Accountant

Location: Montreal, Full time in office

The opportunity:

Valnet is seeking a highly motivated and driven Junior Accountant to help in supporting our accounting operations. This position offers the chance to gain hands-on experience in various accounting functions, including financial reporting, data processing, and recording expenses. Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in an accounting position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advance skills in Excel.
  • Excellent ability to organize, manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet hard deadlines.
  • Superb attention to detail with high level of accuracy.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Record daily financial transactions in Netsuite (receipts, invoices/payments, bank and credit card transactions etc.).
  • Record and process employee expense reports (receive reports, ensure accuracy and approval as well as corresponding receipts, send to payroll for processing)
  • Receive, record and process payment for vendor invoices
  • Support and assist in the month end processing and closing procedures necessary for preparation of financial information & statements
  • Prepare bank and credit card reconciliations periodically for multiple accounts. Identify errors or duplications in records.
  • Maintain supporting documentation and proper filing system for all financial transactions.
  • Participate in audits by providing, when needed, supporting documentation.
  • Additional tasks and ad hoc projects as assigned by Manager.
