About the role

Responsible for the highly complex internal investigations and the development of the internal investigation team's processes. The Forensic accountant is a key member of the team. Supports management in preparation of reporting, budgets, and plans. Makes recommendations and suggestions to management based on expertise. May be responsible for streamlining and improving IIU reporting and analysis systems and responsible for implementing approved plans/changes. Coaches and mentoring other IIU staff and acts as resource regarding area of expertise. May be required to lead the work of a team on special projects.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Forensic Accountant to join our team!

As a Forensic Accountant in the internal investigation team (IIU), your work will have a big impact in our investigation of internal threats. You will possess a clear passion for extracting evidence from data combined with a strong investigative mentality to lead our investigations. You will be the fraud expert and will act as a role model for the team.

Here are a few ways you'll make a difference:

  • Responsible for to the development and maintenance of IIU Fraud Detections Tools.
  • Oversee issue tracking and escalation mechanisms to ensure that the actions/recommendations arising from tools development are appropriately, timely and sustainably addressed.
  • Full ownership of non-detection and investigation activities (e.g., preventive measure), with little to no supervision.
  • Review of multiples claims, documents, and calls. Determine if internal threats are present and act on files accordingly.
  • Lead Investigation (data extraction, data review, open source, call listening, meeting with executive teams) with little to no supervision. Support other IIU members in their investigation.
  • Conduct Interviews with internal employees and witness.
  • Responsible for training new members and be a role model and a mentor to IIU members.
  • Maintaining knowledge by attending relevant courses and seminars and organise training for IIU Team.
  • Conduct files review for the team and Identify training opportunities
  • Work with IIU management to identify risks in the business and build and execute action plan
  • Act as a Leader in the team and support IIU Management

Qualifications

  • 10 years + experience in Forensic Accounting or Audit, insurance, and investigation
  • Master's degree in forensic accounting is an asset.
  • CPA-CFF in good standing (Québec CPA-EJC)
  • AMF Licence 5a
  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner Designation is an asset
  • Proficient with computer technology (strong excel understanding) and ability to learn new systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to write clear, concise, factual reports.
  • Ability to drive change at a strategic and tactical level with full autonomy.
  • Ability to look at the big picture and have a global vision
  • High tolerance to ambiguity
  • Ability to proactively trends, draw meaningful conclusions and deliver and implement recommendations.
