About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior OT Systems & Infrastructure Supervisor the Senior Control Systems Specialist - Terminal Management is responsible for managing, maintaining, training, and testing the Terminal Management System to achieve optimal terminal operations and collaborating with the Control Center Team in Lloydminster and Calgary. The successful candidate will ensure alignment with targeted thresholds, safety management, overall system stability, operability, and continuous improvement. In addition to these responsibilities, the Technologist will provide on call support for leak detection investigations, systems configuration, communications, hardware, networking, and other support.

What you'll do:

  • System Oversight & Compliance: Plan, design, maintain, and document the TMS, ensuring compliance with procedures, environmental regulations, and the Control Room Management Plan (CRMP), while supervising small projects and supporting Cenovus's Operational Integrity Management System (COIMS)

  • Technical Maintenance & Optimization: Configure and maintain TMS hardware, software, and KPIs daily, implementing and validating changes for SCADA, Leak Detection, and simulator systems to ensure accuracy and functionality

  • Training & Mentorship: Train OT technologists and Control Room operators on TMS components, mentoring staff with a focus on Health and Safety, and supporting audits and incident investigations

  • Collaboration & Vendor Management: Work with vendors, engineering, maintenance, operations, and IT to optimize TMS solutions, control vendor system access, and explore new technologies

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Lead troubleshooting of TMS alarms, communications, and hardware issues, providing 24/7 on-call support for OT systems incident resolution

  • Documentation & Review: Review P&IDs, control narratives, shutdown keys, setpoints, and interlocks, while creating and updating KPI reports for accurate collaborator communication, adhering to the Management of Change (MOC) process

  • Project & Performance Evaluation: Develop and execute plans to assess TMS software/hardware performance, assist in maintenance, design, testing, and commissioning, and participate in cross-functional teams for HAZOP, design reviews, and testing

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • 8+ years of experience in Midstream, Oil & Gas, or Petrochemical industries preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of OaSys (PLM and Liquids systems), DNV Leak Detection (RTTM and simulation), Schneider Electric Offsites (formerly Aveva Offsites), and Rockwell PLC control systems

  • Working knowledge of Control Center regulatory requirements (US and Canada), alarm management principles

  • Computer science, Instrumentation or process control Technical diploma, or instrumentation trades is considered an asset

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
