About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Tax Analyst to join us in our office in Dublin, Ohio. Key deliverables of this role include U.S. indirect tax compliance and planning, interacting with internal business partners, customers and tax authorities to address indirect tax-related matters, and supporting corporate projects. The ideal candidate possesses outstanding organizational, analytical and communication skills as these skills are essential to meet tax reporting deadlines and to effectively support the business.

What you'll do:

  • Accountable for timely and accurate preparation and filing of U.S. Fuel Excise, Sales and Use, and other similar indirect tax returns across multiple U.S. jurisdictions by directing and mentoring Tax Analysts in daily compliance functions.
  • Accountable for interpretation of tax legislation, case law and government issued policies to resolve indirect tax business issues.
  • Pro-actively support broad range of internal initiatives that have indirect tax consequences including mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, including any downstream refined products related proposed changes.
  • Review complex contracts and provide indirect tax direction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline and improve indirect tax processes and procedures.
  • Manage U.S. Federal and State Fuel Excise and Sales and Use Tax audits.

Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or similar field required.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in tax, accounting, or similar field. Experience in oil and gas industry a plus.
  • CPA designation is an asset.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
