The Role:
In this high-profile role, as Senior Engineering Program Manager, you will lead a multi-national, multi-discipline engineering team responsible for key engineering initiatives from concept to execution for next generation AMD strategic silicon solutions.
The Person:
The right candidate will have solid knowledge of technical program management, an outstanding track record of delivering sophisticated software/hardware programs, from concept through customer ship, utilizing large, matrixed teams to plan and execute semiconductor products. You will have a deep understanding of the technical challenges related to computing system solutions, which includes the interaction of silicon, platform, firmware and software elements. You are energized by working in a fast-paced technical organization and multi-site environment. You like to make a difference in the industry and are passionate about collaborating with business and engineering teams and our customers to find unique solutions to tough problems.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Engineering Program Manager owns planning and driving the execution of silicon engineering functions to enable best in class customer products.
Engages with technical teams to understand and document program scope, establish integrated schedules, assess and manage program progress, risks, mitigation, and manage resource & budget plans.
Develops and shares best-in-class agile processes to streamline and grow the organization to meet new challenges.
Manages, mentors and coaches geographically distributed technical teams in a matrix organization environment. Works collaboratively with others and coordinates multiple activities.
Plan for risks in the development path, identify prevention methods, and address them to save on engineering costs.
Represents the engineering organization in corporate planning and execution forums, including presentations to Senior VP's and executive staff.
Preferred Experience:
The candidate should be a proven program manager, able to create and maintain a working cross functional team and be skilled managing in a matrixed environment.
Exceptional communications and people management skills to lead, motivate, and guide world class engineers.
Has driven product development with silicon projects and familiar with the semiconductor industry.
Demonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts. Problem solving capability to evaluate risks and tradeoffs and present solution options to executive leadership.
Ability to influence horizontally across multiple internal functional organizations.
Skilled in interfacing with customers, partners and in managing joint-development projects.
Ability to understand and extract action plans from complex technical discussions and translate into crisp messaging tailored for varied targeted audiences.
Ability to nimbly address business and technical changes throughout the program lifecycle both from an internal and customer perspective.
Familiarity with budgeting, resource allocation, and long-range planning.
Seasoned in leveraging MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Teams or Confluence for clear communications and coordination of work.
Familiarity with JAMA, JIRA and similar engineering requirements management and defect tracking tools.
Experience with Agile software and project development methodologies is required.
>8 Years Program Management Experience and >10 years overall relevant experience in Semiconductor Industry - specifically New Product Development.
Academic Credentials:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
PMI or PMP® Certification is required.
